GONDOLA PASTEL was founded as the first Japanese soft pastel company in Kyoto in 1919. Over the past 90 years, every color has been carefully crafted by hand to reflect the light of Japan. Pastels differ from paints because they are difficult to mix to make another color. Therefore, many colors are necessary in pastels to express imagination freely on paper.
The 18 colors in this set are particularly tied to the distinct seasons of Kyoto and have names such as "Wisteria Trellis in Byodoin Temple" and "Tadasu Forest Green after the Rain". You might notice that the green of the box looks like green tea..
